One Bucket or Two
Using Two SDMBokashi Buckets
If you have a lot of food scraps to compost, you may want to consider using two SDMBokashi buckets. This will allow you to have one bucket that is fermenting while you are filling the other bucket. This will give the waste more time to ferment and break down, which will produce a higher quality compost.
To use two SDMBokashi buckets, simply fill one bucket with food scraps and sprinkle it with SDMBokashi bran. Then, close the lid tightly and let it ferment for 2-4 weeks. Once the fermentation process is complete, bury the contents of the bucket in your garden.
While the first bucket is fermenting, you can start filling the second bucket with food scraps. Be sure to continue to sprinkle the food scraps with SDMBokashi bran. Once the second bucket is full, you can bury it in your garden as well.
This process will allow you to compost your food scraps continuously, without having to wait for one bucket to finish fermenting before you can start using the other one.
Here are some additional tips for using two SDMBokashi buckets:
- Drain the liquid from the bottom of the buckets regularly. This liquid is a nutrient-rich fertilizer that can be used to water your plants.
- Wash the buckets well after each use. This will help to prevent the spread of pests and diseases.
- Do not leave fermented waste in an SDMBokashi bucket for more than a few weeks. After a few weeks, the waste will start to break down and release a foul odor.
